Sure you can. There are some reps out there that earn 100% of their income from selling Avon online. That’s all they do is market online and make money online.
It’s not a bad gig. You work from home and make money from the products you sell online and personally. Obviously it’s work. It takes time, patience and commitment and many Avon reps are doing it. Don’t be afraid to dive into something outside of your comfort zone. Wouldn’t you feel a greater accomplishment if you poured your heart and soul into your own business than working that hard for someone else?
Recently Avon went through a few changes. Avon Products, Inc. is now called “New Avon, LLC”. The change was financially driven but much needed for the sales force. Personally, I noticed an excitement and uplifted spirit among my peers at the Avon Repfest Conference last year.
Representatives are excited and proud to be a part of the Avon family and the passion for the business is explosive. Avon introduced new products, compensation plan enhancements, new reporting tools and incentives that would wake a bear up from hibernation. So let’s get back to making money with Avon.
You are still your own “boss” and you can work this business from home. All you need to decide is how you want to work your business. Many reps today are doing a lot of their marketing through social media. After all, social media is where the people are and where you will find customers and recruits.
Secondly, you can sell Avon the old-fashioned way and many reps still do it this way. The old-fashioned way means that some reps prefer going door-to-door, selling Avon at work or just by word of mouth.
The best way to run your business is by incorporating both ways into your business model. You know that cliché about two heads are better than one. Well two money makers are better than one. Besides if you are serious about this business you want to take advantage of everything Avon offers. Why leave any money on the table.
How Avon Works
Let me run you through a few details on how Avon works. Once you enroll and pay your startup fee, Avon will ship the kit you have chosen directly to your home. There are three kits available and the kit costs range from $25 up to $100. After submitting the online application you will receive confirmation and an Avon account number. In the meantime, you can start the setup of your account and your “free” Avon website immediately. There are no monthly fees or campaign fees to be paid to maintain your Avon website. It’s completely user-friendly. If you have read other articles about Avon charging $7.50 per campaign that is no longer the case. It’s completely free to have an Avon eStore (online store).
The next step is to have some form of structure. It’s quite easy to get distracted when working from home so you will need a schedule. Schedules and time management are important. The person that signs you up will need to coach you through some basic business activities so you can stay on task. Over time you will get better at time management, creating marketing ideas and setting up events. If you treat Avon like a business and set work hours, you will make money online with Avon.
My Avon Experience
My personal experience with Avon has been positive. I’ve been a President’s Club Member, Honor Society Member, Skin Care Specialist, Recruiter, Top Seller and Avon Online Seller. My favorite way to sell is face-to-face but I’m really loving the online selling. It’s a very convenient option to make money online with Avon.
I started promoting my business online in 2014 but didn’t really know what I was doing. I’d ask other representatives at local meetings and none of them knew how to make money online selling Avon and those trying didn’t know much about it either.

You will also need to invest money in buying your brochures every campaign, some samples and sales tools like your product bags. These items are affordable and you can purchase a couple of things every campaign so it doesn’t cut into your profits too much.
As with most companies today, an online presence is beneficial for making sales. Avon offers their sales force a free website and all they need to do is activate it to go live.
The website Avon offers is preformatted and can be customized in some areas of the website like inserting a personal message, adding a video, changing color schemes and a blog. If you are html savvy then you can add code to the blog site easily. Although the Avon template is standardized, you can make your website unique. Most direct selling companies work with a template also. This keeps the websites looking clean and professional.
COST OF DOING BUSINESS
Investing in your business is important to make money online or when selling Avon face-to-face. I mentioned before that you should purchase brochures every campaign. This is a must if you are servicing customers locally.
The Avon Brochure
Now let’s talk about the most important part of your Avon business – the brochure. The Avon brochure is your money-maker. If no one can look at your brochure online or get one in person then you will not make any sales. And if you are only selling Avon online you probably won’t need as many brochures as with face-to-face selling so you will be able to cut down on costs that way. I like to send my online customers a new catalog once a month just so they have a brochure in hand. It usually spurs on sales.
It doesn’t matter that you have to pay for your brochures and samples and promotion materials. That is the cost of doing business. This is a real business and you will have expenses. Some items I have had to purchase along the way are stamps, ink for my printer, business cards, display items and office supplies. I’ve also invested in buying additional merchandise when I go to events and I want to have product on hand. Your upline or district manager will guide you on what you need and when you need it.
Part of our business is handling returns for customers. Avon’s policy is to allow a customer to return an item within 90 days of receiving the product. It does not cost you anything to return products for customers if you only do one return per month. Avon understands that returns are going to be part of our business activities so they have added this perk to make it easier for representatives to handle the returns. If you need to return more products then just wait until the next month or better yet make a clearance basket. This usually works for me. Once a month I post online my clearance items on social media and by emailing my customers. My banner shows 50% Off any Items in this Basket. People love clearance deals and I don’t have to mess with paying for any returns.

The pay is based on how much you can sell in a two-week period. The more you sell the more money you will make. There are no sales quotas – period. You can send in a $5 order if you want but you will not make anything because your brochures alone cost more than that. You can make money online by submitting your regular order and Avon also includes the sales you get online to determine your commission level for that two-week period.
Let me give you an idea of how much you can make if you set your own sales quotas. Every retailer has a daily sales quota they need to meet and your business store is no different.
Let’s say you decide to have a $25 sale every day except Sunday. That’s $25 X 6 = $ $150 in sales per week. An Avon campaign is equivalent to 2 weeks. So now you must multiply $150 X 2 and that is $300 in sales for one campaign. As a new representative, you will earn 40% commission on that order. That is a potential profit of $120. Let’s say you cap your expenses at $20 for that order. You still come out ahead by $100. And that does not include any commission you may earn from your online order. That is extra! Every person will be different but no one will make any money if they don’t have sales goals.
The next step is to plan on how you will get a $25 sale every day. Yes! You must have a plan for that too. So the question is where will I find a person every day to buy $25? Use social media, free online sites, run promotions and market yourself using Avon’s Social Media site that comes as an app so you can post quickly an easily. The posts featured in the Avon app are preformatted which makes posting on different social media sites simple. Once the person clicks on your post they will be automatically connected to YOU.
Now you’re probably thinking that’s not much money! I know that. But everyone starts somewhere. I’m sure you can think of ways to get more sales than that everyday. Afterall, the more you sell – the more you make.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO MAKE A GOOD INCOME WITH AVON?
The time it takes to make a good income with Avon all depends on you and your openness to give yourself enough time for your business to flourish. I usually tell my new representatives that they should plan on giving themselves a year to learn, build and grow.
How bad do you want to make money online? Allow yourself to learn. Connect with top sellers in your district and heed advice from your upline and district manager. Lately I have been joining some of the Facebook groups for support and ideas and it’s been great. We can all learn a lot from each other.
